The FIN Project examines the history and evolution of surfboard fins through a controlled, fine-art photographic approach. As both a surfer and photographer, I’m drawn to the forms we experience in the water—the curve of a wave, the transitions of a board, and how small design shifts can change everything.

Over the course of the project, I photographed more than a hundred fins, boards, and pieces of surf ephemera—from early 1930s experiments to modern 3D-printed innovations. These images are created for large-format presentation, revealing every nuanced detail.
