THE FIN PROJECT

Exploring the Typology of Waveriding Fins

The Fin Project explores the history and evolution of surfboard fins through controlled photographic technique. My fascination with design—both its theory and aesthetics—has driven this exploration.

As both a surfer and a photographer, I’ve always been fascinated by the forms around us while surfing—like the shape of the wave, the subtle transitions on a board, and how even a tiny adjustment in design can transform a board into something extraordinary.

In total, I photographed over a hundred fins, boards and ephemera, ranging from the earliest experiments from the early 1930's, to 3D printed and alternative modern designs that continue to push the limits of innovation.

As with all of my photographic projects, these images are intended as large format prints. Please email me if you are interested in purchasing.
