THE CHALLENGE:
Honoring the Icons of Absolut and Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice.
Deliverables included 3x 6-second and 1x 15-second videos,
showcasing the dynamic interaction between crystal clear ABSOLUT
and vibrant Ocean Spray cranberry juice.
Tim's expertise as a technically-minded commercial video director
ensured that each shot was crafted to perfection,
with a focus on fluid dynamics
and the vibrant contrast between the vodka and cranberry.
The team utilized high-speed cameras and motion control robots
to capture mesmerizing pour shots, the elegant swirl of the drink in slow motion,
and the iconic Ocean Spray Wave.
This approach created a luxurious and immersive feel,
aligning with the campaign's "Born to Mix" messaging.
DESIGN AND PLANNING - THE ABSOLUT PORTAL
The shoot required 3 weeks of detailed planning, testing and special effects prep work.
Tim and his special effects wizard Jeremy designed multiple custom rigs,
including the first practical example of the Absolut "Portal"
featuring LED's synchronized to the camera's movement.
HONORING THE ICON: ABSOLUT VODKA
Tim referenced the iconic ads of the 1990's in his treatment of the ABSOLUT bottle.
Although it never made it to the final cuts,
it was an honor to bring his interpretation of these well-known visuals to life on screen.
In the words of creative director Sakshi Choudary:
"I've never seen the bottle look so good!"
CREATING THE OCEAN SPRAY WAVE
By far the most fun, and messiest, rig of the shoot was the Ocean Spray Wave.
Inspired Tim's love of surfing, the team created a custom rig that channeled gallons of Ocean Spray Cranberry juice into the perfect barreling wave.

It takes a village to create visuals that live up to the expectations of such iconic brands.
